Plerion emerged from a 2019 epiphany, driven by the need to prioritize genuine risks over best practices in cloud security.
Back in 2019, while showcasing new features to one of the company's largest customers, the security lead asked a thought-provoking question: "Should we stop this meeting, go address the critical and high risks your product highlights, and return later - if they're putting my business at risk?" The founder's response was simple: these weren't real risks per se, but rather best practices that should be aimed at to improve the security posture. This moment sparked the idea for Plerion. The founder thought, "What if I could build a product that could help customers identify risks that really matter, instead of best practices?"
As the founder delved deeper into conversations, it became evident that many struggled to identify cloud risks. So, the decision was made to build Plerion to solve this problem.
Fast forward a few years, and the scenario has repeated itself multiple times. During calls with customers, prospects, and partners, the founder has often paused mid-conversation to urge them to address the major risks in their cloud environments, such as sensitive data exposure.
Mike brings a wealth of experience from the cloud security industry, having founded Cloud Conformity in 2016 where customers included Atlassian, Qantas and Novartis. Conformity was the most comprehensive cloud best practice engine in the market, aligning with Well-Architected (AWS, Azure, GCP).
Keith brings 18+ years of experience in building and leading startups. Mike and Keith co-founded Cloud Conformity in 2016 and built the company to an exit with Trend Micro in 2019 for $100 million. Like many entrepreneurs building new ventures is part of his DNA and our ambition with Plerion is even bigger than anything in the past.
Paul has 15+ years of experience in developing and leading global commercial teams. Most recently he was EMEA President for Cloud Conformity, building and scaling the regional team working with customers including Novartis, Ticketmaster and the Bahrain Government.
Daniel is a Super Serious Internet Guy. He once opened the AWS web console and is now totally an expert in hacking AWS... maybe because he wrote the first authoritative AWS hacking framework. He is no longer the Chief Information Security Officer at Linktree, nor the Head of Security at Atlassian but he believes his spirit lives on in awful Python code that no one can understand.
Cynthia was the first employee at Plerion who started as our Head of Operations and promoted to Chief of Staff to the Co-CEOs in early 2024. With previous experience at AWS in operations, team scaling, and program management, Cynthia plays a crucial role in driving Plerion's growth and success.
Sam just a guy, standing in front of some code, asking it to love him.
Liam has over 13 years of experience in tech sales and leadership roles, with a passion for building high-performing SaaS sales teams. Among his notable achievements is playing a key role in the AU$100m acquisition of Cloud Conformity.
